Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enroll in Direct Deposit?

Enrolling in Direct Deposit  takes just a few steps.

Paychecks or Government Payments: With Direct Deposit, you can have some or all of your payroll, government benefits, or tax refund checks loaded onto your account. You will need to provide your employer or government payments provider a bank routing number (sometimes referred to as the “ABA routing number”) and your account number. Get your bank routing and account numbers in the Online Account Center or mobile app.

Tax Refunds: Get your federal and state tax refunds faster than a paper check.* Just have them electronically direct deposited onto your Netspend Account. You will need to provide your tax preparer a bank routing number (sometimes referred to as the “ABA Routing Number”) and your account number or enter them on the tax forms if you are doing your own taxes. Get your bank routing and account numbers in the Online Account Center or mobile app.

Faster access claim is based on comparison of a disbursement via direct deposit vs. disbursement via a mailed paper check. For up-to-date information from the IRS: www.irs.gov/refunds.
