Frequently Asked Questions
How do I deposit my tax refund into my Netspend ?
When you have your tax refund direct deposited, that means you may get your refund faster than a paper check.* Bring your routing and account numbers to your tax preparer, or if you're filling out your own taxes, indicate them in the designated sections.
Please note: A tax refund may only be deposited in the name of someone on the account. If we receive a tax refund to your account intended for someone other than you, we will return the refund to the IRS and the IRS will mail a paper check to the individual.
If you have a joint refund and your Prepaid Card program allows, you must add the other person as a Secondary Cardholder to your Netspend Card Account. There is an Additional Card Fee for adding a Secondary Cardholder. You can find your account and routing numbers in your Online Account Center or mobile app. At this time, you cannot add another accountholder to a Demand Deposit Account.
*Faster access claim is based on comparison of a disbursement via direct deposit vs. disbursement via a mailed paper check. For up-to-date information from the IRS: www.irs.gov/refunds.
